ICCR fall conference

Shareholders for Change (SfC) is honored to announce its participation in the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) Fall Conference 2025. SfC is particularly pleased to join this year’s ICCR conference, as the network itself was founded taking inspiration from ICCR’s pioneering work

During the ICCR Fall Conference 2025, a dedicated session will be held in collaboration with SfC Italian member Etica Funds, featuring SfC President Ugo Biggeri and Aldo Bonati from Etica Funds. The session, titled “Grave New World: Responsible Investment in an Age of Conflict, Commerce, and Killer Robots”, will explore the critical intersection between the ethical and financial responsibilities of investors in an era of rising global conflict.
The session will take place on October 23 from 2:45 to 4:00 pm CEST (8:45-10:00 EST).

Overview

Today, the world faces more conflict than at any time since World War II, with over 152,000 conflict-related deaths recorded in 2024. The global defense industry has responded with unprecedented growth—driven not only by traditional arms manufacturing but also by the rapid expansion of “defense tech”, a sector blending military and dual-use technologies that increasingly integrate artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous systems.
While innovation accelerates, the human costs of these technologies continue to rise. From the weaponization of personal data to the growing use of AI in combat decision-making and the deployment of lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS), modern warfare is blurring the line between human control and machine autonomy.

This ICCR session will confront these systemic risks and explore how responsible investors can uphold their ethical, legal, and fiduciary duties amid this complex and rapidly evolving landscape.
