Fondazione Cariplo

Fondazione Cariplo, based in Milan, has joined Shareholders for Change as our first supporting member.

Fondazione Cariplo is an Italian banking foundation with over 10 billion euros in AUM and one of the main shareholders of Intesa Sanpaolo, among the most important banking groups in Italy and in Europe. Formally established in 1991, its history dates back to 1816.

Fondazione Cariplo is a philanthropic institution that uses its economic, planning and professional resources to encourage and support the implementation of projects that focus on the common good, people’s growth and the collective interest. The fight against inequalities, supporting in particular the most vulnerable sections of the population, and the promotion of the economic and social growth of the territory are at the heart of the Foundation’s mission.

Since its inception, the Foundation has been committed to creating value and opportunities for people and communities by supporting projects in the fields of arts and culture, the environment, scientific research and in the social realm.

“We are proud to join the SfC network,” explains Francesco Lorenzetti, Director of Finance and Sustainability at Fondazione Cariplo. “We have an SRI approach but no experience in engagement. We are here to learn“.

Following the joining of Fondazione Cariplo and EB-SIM, SfC now has 19 members that represent over 45 billion euros of assets under management.
